Corn Hole will be on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. Hand & Foot cards will be on Friday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. Nickel Bingo will be on Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. Board games will be on Friday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m. Come down and have some fun! We now have indoor walking in the gym on Mondays at 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Tuesday through Friday 1 a.m. to noon.
The Knit Wits will be meeting on Thursday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. This is a group of knitters or crocheters at any level, or if you just want to learn. We have knitting needles, crochet hooks and yarn available. Interested, just show up and have some fun.
If Springfield schools are closed due to weather, the Center will also be closed. If there is a two-hour delay for schools, the center will open at 10 a.m. Cribbage will be cancelled on a two-hour delay.
Individual support will be available at local senior centers throughout Windsor and Windham counties to help Medicare recipients find programs they may be eligible for, including application assistance. Those programs include but are not limited to: Medicaid, 3 Squares VT (SNAP), Choices for Care, and Fuel Assistance (LIHEAP). Individual appointments will begin in February at six area senior centers in: Brattleboro, Bellows Falls, Springfield, Black River, White River Junction and Woodstock. If you need immediate assistance, contact Tracy Blanchard directly at 802.773.7917. Tracy will be available at the Springfield Senior Center the first and third Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each month to help with Medicare questions. You can also call the center to set up an appointment.
Appointments will be needed for the foot clinics. You can call the center to schedule one. The price for this service will still be $20. Janet Hunter RN, will be offering clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Springfield Take off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) meets here every Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. TOPS is the original weight loss support group that was founded in 1948. Interested people can stop by the morning of their meetings for more information.
We will be having a movie afternoon on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 1 p.m. Come watch a movie and enjoy some popcorn.
The Senior Center will be hosting the AARP Tax Aide program again this year. Scheduling for appointments will begin the end of January.
